Lord, Please help me, To strengthen their voices, bodies and minds, To express their feelings and control them sometimes, To explore what's near and venture afar, But most important to love who they are.
I find that I am constantly having to remind myself exactly why I am in the classroom. The beginning of school did not go as smoothly as I had hoped. It seems that anything that could go wrong has not only in my move to Crossett but in the classroom as well. I am wondering if I made the right choice, but I keep telling myself that "this too shall pass." Things have to get better don't they?
Every bit of advice given by Harry Wong concerning classroom management seemed to just fly right out the door: especially with two of my classes. My students have proven to be quite a challenge. Many refuse to do their work or participate in any way in the classroom. Quite a few students complain constantly about never having to do so much work last year. They don't like to read or think: "It makes my head hurt." Two students were complaining in class today and said, "We'd rather do worksheets all of the time like last year." Before I could make any comment a student replied, "Well, we're learning something this year!" So, maybe there's hope yet! :~)
